Many of us are finding ourselves eating more than we should right now, either just snacking out of boredom, eating for emotional comfort, or you have a hubby who is doing the shopping and snacks are his middle name! I blame it on Eric. #quarantineissues 🤣🤣 Great news, putting essential oils in your water helps so much with cravings for sweets or snacks. Fennel and grapefruit are my two fave oils for this and I add a drop or two of one or the other in my drinking water all day. Fennel has a sweet flavor and particularly helps with cravings for sweets! Grapefruit and other citrus oils are cleansing, detoxing and supports a healthy metabolism. And both fennel and grapefruit are super supportive and balancing to hormones. So you are getting not double but TRIPLE the health benefits when you use these oils! And any of my breastfeeding mama friends out there, this doubles as a milk production booster! Fennel is amazing at boosting your milk supply......... if you’re struggling with it, make sure to stay away from peppermint as well, as that can dry you up over time. If you have been considering getting some oils, now is a great time! I have some extra special starter kits and freebies this month that will revolutionize your family's health and wellness! BreAnne Hess Lemon oil is indeed one of the most “essential” oils to have on hand, as it can used for so many purposes, from a natural teeth whitener, household cleaner and laundry freshener, to a mood booster and nausea reliever. You are covering a lot of ground with this one bottle of essential oils! PLUS, it’s one of the cheapest!!!! Lemon essential oil comes from cold-pressing the lemon peel and not the inner fruit. The peel is actually the most nutrient-dense portion of the lemon because of its fat soluble phytonutrients. Lemon essential oil is composed of many natural compounds, including terpenes, sesquiterpenes, aldehydes, alcohols, esters and sterols. So, how can we use it???? Top 10 ways to use Lemon!! 1. Natural cleaner: Want to steer away from alcohol and bleach to disinfect your countertops and clean your moldy shower? Add 30 drops of lemon oil and 10 drops of tea tree oil to a 16 ounce spray bottle fill with pure water (and a little bit of white vinegar) for a traditional cleaning favorite. This natural cleaning spray can be used to kill toxins and bacteria in your home, especially in places like your kitchen and bathroom. Besides, raise your hand if cleaning goes down like this at your house...… you decide to clean off the table and counters and all of a sudden, the kids feel like cleaning is a GREAT idea! They can't do their own chores and pick up their own toys, but when I get out a spray bottle, they NEED to help me clean. Yup, you know what I'm talking about. This NATURAL cleaning spray puts my mind at ease when the kids DO have the burning desire to help me clean. Check out this article from Forbes that says "Cleaning your home with toxic cleaners is as bad as smoking 20 cigarettes a DAY!" yikes.... no thanks! 2. Laundry: If you ever leave your laundry sitting in the washer for too long,(like 2 days too long.... which I'm sure YOU don't do :) ) just add a few drops of lemon essential oil to your load before drying and your clothes won’t get that musky smell. 3. Goo-Be-Gone: Un-stick the sticky goo your kids leave behind with stickers and gum with lemon oil. Just add 3–5 drops of lemon oil to a damp washcloth. Stickers literally take over my house..... on my van doors, all over their toys, on my floor, on their walls. This little tip is a GAME CHANGER 4. Teeth Whitener: Mix lemon essential oil, baking soda and coconut oil and rub the combination on your teeth for 2 minutes before rinsing. So fresh and so clean clean! 5. Promote Fat-Loss: Add 2 drops of lemon oil to a glass of water 2–3 times daily to support your metabolism and promote weight loss. 6. Improve Your Mood: Diffusing about 5 drops of lemon essential oil at home or work can help to lift your mood! It's pretty much sunshine in a bottle..... LEGIT! You could also nickname this little guy the "tantrum tamer." So pretty much, diffuse this all 12 HOURS OF THE DAY if you're a stay at home mom. Just do it.... thank me later. 7. Clear Mucus and Phlegm: To help eliminate mucus and relieve congestion, inhale lemon oil directly from the bottle or combine 2–3 drops with a half-teaspoon of coconut oil and apply it topically to your chest and nose. Just remember that Lemon is photosensitive, so do not apply topically (like to your chest) right before going out into the sun. This one is one of my faves to use for the kiddos though. Happy smelling oil that isn't overpowering, and SUPER effective at breaking up that mucous. 8. Relieve Seasonal Symptoms: To help drain your lymphatic system and relieve seasonal symptoms, diffuse 5 drops of lemon oil at home, add 5 drops to your laundry detergent, or mix 5–10 drops with water in a spray bottle and spray it on your carpets, curtains, couches and sheets. My SEASONAL bomb recipe works wonders as well!!! Get a 10ml roller bottle and add 10 drops each Lemon + Lavender + Peppermint. Top off with fractionated coconut oil. Roll on your chest, or directly under your nose to reduce symptoms. I carry mine in my purse so I'm prepared if the sneezes hit, or someone is out chopping hay. 9. Improve Digestion: To get things moving along...…. get my drift? Add 2 drops of lemon oil to each glass of water you drink during the day (and at least twice). One of my other things to do is add 2-3 drops to my green smoothie. It helps cut the bitterness of my greens + adding some extra oomph to my wellness plan! 10. Promote Detoxification: To help with gentle detoxification, add 1–2 drops of lemon essential oil to a glass of water and drink it twice daily. Now please my friends..... do NOT, and I repeat.... DO NOT go buy Lemon oil at Walmart and add to your drinking water! Internal use is a HUGE no no unless you are using Pure therapeutic grade essential oils. It is so refreshing when you do add it to your glass of water though! Lemony fresh without the tang of lemon fruit..... if anything, it will help you drink more water! Flavored water is kinda where it's at. Need some lemon??? Go HERE. If you want it for 25% off.... and you're like "WHATTTTT, that's a thing???" Then go learn more HERE.
But if you're READY to use Lemon + clean up your family's medicine cabinet, cleaning products, and uplevel your self care.... go HERE. If you know a friend or family member who could really USE THIS OIL, then share this post, send them "10 ways to use Lemon Essential Oil" YouTube video, or share on facebook! Have a blessed day y'all!!! Baby's are my fave! Absolutely fave!!! We were introduced to essential oils when my littlest was 6 months old. I admit that I was hesitant to use them on her as much as everyone else in our family. I have since read and read everything I could get my hands on about the safety and research regarding essential oils and infants. We have since added to the family..... so I'm hoping to pass on some of the information that we have used on him, with the foremost thought of safety and correct application on infants. Share if you think someone else would benefit from this info! Yes, that's one of my babies above...... sigh. Gorsh, those baby days fly by! When it comes to our babies, we want the best care possible for them. So make sure you are ONLY buying pure, therapeutic grade oils. Everything we put onto our skin goes into our body so we want to be 100% sure that there are no contaminants, pesticides, or fillers. The quality of essential oils that we use MATTERS!! Always DILUTE essential oils for children and babies. Diluting essential oils to use on your baby is the BEST way to go for so many reasons. 1. Reduces irritation and sensitivities 2. Aids in absorption (essential oils are aromatic compounds and have a tendency to "flash off" the skin when applied undiluted. The carrier oils work as a barrier and heaviness so that it stays on the skin, and absorbs better) 3. Saves you money because your oils last longer! *bonus* 4. Exposes baby to lower amounts of oils The easiest and best way I've found to dilute essential oils is to get a 10ml roller bottle, add one drop essential oil and top off with Fractionated coconut oil. Safety Tips! *Keep oils out of reach of children (call poison control if a child gets into them) *Never apply oils in the ears, nose or eyes. *Babies and children should NOT ingest essential oils. Please wait until they are 6-10 years old. But always keep perspective in mind..... Since the birth of Doterra there have been .006% adverse reaction reports. (primarily skin irritations) Use your essential oils at your discretion but when someone comes to me wondering if using an essential oil on their baby truly is safe..... I ask them what their alternative was. So far, 100% of the time, the essential oil is by far the safest option to go with. *Frankincense *Wild Orange *White fir *Lavender *Lemon *Cardamom *Serenity blend This of course is not a comprehensive list of ALL the essential oils that you can use on your baby. Use all essential oils at your own discretion. Hold off on using these essential oils until they are a little older: Peppermint, Oregano, Cassia, Cinnamon. They are all "hot" oils and can be saved for later in life. There are still many other oils that you can use in place of these. These oils are less of an issue if they are included in a blend but there are still many choices from above that you can use instead of. Common Baby Issues and Solutions Digestive Support: Dilute 1 drop Cardamom, and 1 drop Wild orange in 2 Tablespoons carrier oil and rub on belly in a clockwise direction for 1 minute. Re-apply as needed every 15-30 minutes until issue is resolved. Or if it's a chronic issue, apply every morning and night. Respiratory Relief: Dilute 1 drop Cardamom and 1 drop Lemon in carrier oil and rub on chest and back every 15-30 minutes. (just make sure that you don't expose baby to direct sunlight for 24 hours after applying the Lemon oil) Ears: Dilute 1 drop Melaleuca and 1 drop Lavender with carrier oil and rub around the outside of the ear (remember to NEVER apply oils IN the ears) and massage down towards the lymph nodes to promote drainage. Reapply often! Calming: Dilute Lavender or Serenity Blend and use in "infant massage" or drop a couple drops of either oil on your baby carrier, or chest as you hold them to promote relaxation. We LOVE diffusing for optimal calming effects. Teething: Dilute 1 drop Lavender and 1 drop White Fir essential oil and rub along outside of jaw line as needed. We are in the throes of teething currently and can't say enough good things about this for teething relief!!!! Cradle Cap: Dilute Frankincense and Melaleuca with coconut oil to affected area and let sit for 15 minutes then brush through. It helped us to only bathe our baby with water and a gentle bath bar as well. Shampooing the baby's hair every bath depletes their natural oil production and does not help things along. "Your sense of smell is your most primal sense and exerts surprising influence over your thoughts, emotions, moods, memories, and behaviors." Birth can be a traumatic experience for the babies (who am I kidding, it can be traumatic at times for mothers too) and that's why we used Frankincense on the crown of our baby's head right after he was born. Essential oils can be extremely grounding and Frankincense is one of the BEST to promote that grounding effect. Emotionally speaking, it's an "Anti-trauma" oil. I highly highly recommend doing that! Frequently Asked Questions: 1. Is Peppermint safe to use around babies? There's a lot of irrelevant and outdated information circulating around online and it can be scary for moms who are new to essential oils. Never fear..... when used properly, Doterra's Peppermint is very safe! Here's an amazing article to address this written by a holistic practitioner and pediatrician. Peppermint does tend to be very stimulating and invigorating to little babies so I choose to use more gentle oils that still do the trick. When used in blends, the effect of the peppermint isn't near as strong, but again.... there are more gentle options that you can use for the results you want. 2. Is Eucalyptus safe to use around babies?? Refer to the article above. 3. Are oils safe to diffuse around the baby? I would use the more gentle and safe essential oils listed above and dilute accordingly. We LOVE diffusing in our baby's rooms! Such an amazing tool to maintain clear airways, promote a good night's sleep, and calm! Essential oils have changed the name of the game for us..... and I know they will for YOU!!!
